Mostly Mature (55+)Mostly
Mostly Mature is a
group composed of our mature adults. We are self supporting, and a
pay-as-you-go organization. We hold such events as lunch, bingo, shows,
ball games, ice cream socials, etc. We also sponsor Support our Troops
when we are made aware that we have a service pereon who is in "harm's
way". We sponsor Fifty-Five Alive every three years to assist our older
persons in reminding them of defensive driving. The group at present is
headed by Agnes & Dick Draper, with much assistance from Flo & John
Ondrejcek, as well as Edie & Frankie Piazza. |

Adult Choir This group is the main sanctuary choir for Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran
Church.
Weekly rehearsals are held in the choir room adjacent to the Sanctuary on
Wednesday
evenings. This choir provides music for each of the three worship services
by rotating their schedule of musical offerings. There are special times
of the year when the Adult Choir provides music for services: a Veteran's
Day service,
Christmas Cantata, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and Patriotic
Sunday. This group is open to all adults who are gifted in the
area of voice.
You may meet with the director to determine your vocal placement. |

Chancel Ringers
The music department
currently owns four octaves of Schulmerich handbells and four octaves
of Suzuki tone chimes. This advanced choir meets weekly to
work on music which supports the worship of our Lord. Periodically,
the group also offers concerts. Currently we have nine positions
available to ringers, with the addition of the four octaves of both
chimes and handbells in 2009, we wish to expand our advanced ringers
to eleven ringers. It is a requirement that you read music to be
part of this group!

Ocean Chimers
This group began in 2007 as
a new group. They started as true beginners and are in the process of
learning how to read music and ring handbells with a proper technique. If
you have any interest in ringing bells for the first time and read just a
little music, this would be the group for you. |

Orchestra Ensemble
By having an advanced choir,
we utilize the talents of those who play musical instruments. If you play
an orchestral instrument, please contact Kim Holt about sharing your
talent. We try to incorporate the
use of instrumentalists throughout the year in worship, cantatas and
concert
settings, but most especially at Christmas, Easter and Patriotic Sunday. |

Piano Quartet/Piano Duet Teams
We have several very
talented pianists at SOS who from time to time
work quite hard to provide various themed concerts. If you play
intermediate to advanced piano, we would love to include you in this
group.

and maintain comfort for each other in Christian love and
understanding.
The group is primarily for widows, widowers, and those separated

Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America WELCA
The purpose of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is
that as a community of women who are created in the image of God, called
to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we
commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another
in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and
wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
WELCA’s current theme is “Bold Women Crossing the Waters.” The scripture
reference is the Great Commission as found in the twenty-eighth chapter of
Matthew: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with
you always, to the end of the age.”
WELCA has two circles:
The Friendship Circle meets the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm.
The Mary Martha Circle meets the second Monday of the month at 10:00 am.
2010 is the 125th anniversary of the Women’s
Missionary Society here in South Carolina. One hundred twenty-five
years ago, Lutheran women came together to act boldly in organizing with
the purpose of missions- both here at home and overseas. They took
seriously their call in the Great Commission.
