WELCA stands for Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It is the official women's ministry organization for the ELCA, connecting women for service, study, and fellowship.
The purpose of the organization is to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ and work for healing and wholeness in the church and the world.
Local and national groups engage in Bible study, community service, global quilt / kit distributions, and social advocacy. Any woman who belongs to an ELCA congregation is automatically considered part of our unit. This year our unit is expressing the desire for women of all ages to become active in our group. With this in mind, we are providing childcare during our meetings for those who need it.
Our first meeting on Saturday morning, September 12th from 10:30 until noon, will include a surprise speaker with a topic women of all ages will find interesting and informative. At this first meeting, we want to gather input from all members as to what they would like WELCA to accomplish this year.
WELCA meetings are a wonderful means of meeting people within the church and forging new friendships. Please join us for our first meeting.
